Harko Nectarine grows well in cold 5b areas protected from the wind.Harko's fruit is both beautiful and delicious, with a red skin and soft yellow flesh that is very sweet. It is a vigorous variety, full of huge, showy pink flowers in spring that turn into fruit in late summer. These trees do best in minimum zones 5b to 8 in the ground, but in pots they can be grown in zone 3b.

Spectacular pink bloom. Plantation in pot or in ground with Italian method. 5b minimum in open ground.
Resists very badly to temperatures under -30°C and to the big dry winds of winter. We have often lost some above the snow line... that's why it is necessary to plant it in a situation where it will be protected (city, neighborhood etc... micro climate.
It will start to produce delicious, sweet and juicy fruits around 2 to 4 years after planting. Our experience with peach and nectarine trees in pots has given us harvests of over 80 peaches and nectarines per tree for young plants. The tree is at its hardiness limit in zone 5b. We do not recommend it for zone 4 except for cultivation in large pots or as the Italians do with fig trees in Montreal...that is, by laying it down every winter with different protection methods. You can experiment with different ways to protect it.

Redhaven peach trees produce succulent, high-quality fruit. This popular variety is known to be an excellent producer of large peaches. Pink, fragrant flowers bloom in the spring. When the fruit ripens in July, you'll enjoy bushels of sweet peaches with nearly hairless skin and firm, creamy yellow flesh. These free-standing peaches are excellent as a fresh snack or for canning and freezing.
Redhaven is very productive and easy to grow and maintain. The branches have a spreading character, and this variety is resistant to leaf spot diseases. It is a self-pollinating fruit tree, making it ideal for small gardens and backyard orchards. As this tree is very vigorous, we recommend regular pruning and thinning.
