Whorled holly is a small shrub native to Eastern Canada that is very decorative because it keeps its inedible red fruits on its branches even in winter. It measures approximately 2 meters in height and grows in the form of a grove. It is relatively rare to encounter it except in a few places where it is a little more abundant. The small decorative white flowers appear in spring in the axils of its leaves which are very ordinary compared to European or American species with fatty, evergreen leaves. Whorled Holly is a shrub that likes moist, slightly acidic soils and remains an excellent choice for riverbank redevelopment. It is easy to grow and does not require much care other than a little pruning from time to time. Florists often sell its twigs in their floral arrangements in the fall when their leaves have fallen. Native Americans used several parts of holly to treat certain skin problems as well as fever. For your plant to produce, you need a female plant and a male plant for pollination. When we sell them, it is impossible to know if the plants are male or female so it is ideal to take a few to be sure. We will eventually proceed to cuttings which will ensure identification. Hardy in zone 3b.
