The Vandalay cherry variety ripens in mid-July, around the same time as the popular 'Bing' variety. Although the Vandalay cherry tree is known to be self-fertile, you will get more fruit with a pollinator. You can use Bing, Stella, Van.

Incredibly productive varieties that produce large quantities of dark red, firm cherries with excellent flavor. The fruits are also fairly resistant to cracking, although some thinning is necessary if you want the cherries to be a nice size.

History: Vandalay was created by Dr. Ghassem Tehrani from a cross between Van and Stella sweet cherries at the Vineland Research and Innovation Center and commercialized in 1969.

Hardiness zone: 5

Sun and shade requirements: Full sun (approximately 8-10 hours of sunlight per day)
