Small, slow-growing maple with dark green foliage that turns orange-red in fall. The tree can reach 6 meters high by 6 meters wide in good conditions on our continent but exceeds this size in Japan. To be used in a place protected from prevailing winds. Prefers semi-shaded places. Ideal for tight spaces in the city behind or in front of a house. It is often confused with similar species from this region of the globe, namely the Korean maple and the Japanese maple, but they are a species in their own right like the others.
