medium sized oak, maybe less in our northern canadian latitudes, native to the american Midwest with unique leaves shape. Potential longevity is more than 200 years. In our opinion, it is one of the most beautiful species of oak that exists in North America. It is the only oak that can be grown in our latitudes with lanceolate leaves (similar to laurel leaves). It adapts well to southern Quebec and grows well. It does not fail to attract attention because you would think you are dealing with something other than an oak tree when you are close to it. In autumn, it turns bright red and keeps its color for a long time. They also keep their leaves for longtime after the first hard freeze in december. Our 12 years old Shingle Oaks planted at the nursery experienced some -34 celcius temperature without any winter damage. We bring you this very particular beauty and rarity that you won’t find elsewhere in regular canadian nurseries.
