Shellbark hickory is a large tree that is rare and difficult to find on the nursery market. This species is slightly less hardy than the shagbark hickory. The shank hickory is similar to the shagbark hickory but with differences in its leaves, its bark which exfoliates less and its nuts which are twice the size of those of the C. ovataand sometimes even triple. The nuts produced by the tree are just as tasty as the nuts of carya ovata a slight winner in taste according to many. Beautiful ornamental tree for its generous foliage composed of 7 leaflets and for its shade. Ideal on your land for ornamental use, for production in nut orchards and for enriching woodland. We highly recommend it for your trials, you will not be disappointed!
