We had a good seeds crop of 'Northern' hybrid hazelnuts, ideal for planting in zones 3 and 4. It is therefore for the first time that we are offering them to you for your hazelnut sowing projects next spring. The seeds must be stratified at refrigerator temp. for several months in slightly damp sand.

Remember that seeds (hazelnuts) grown from different parent sources can only be identified as "seedlings of... and not by cultivar name." Cultivars are propagated by asexual means, i.e. by grafting, layering, cuttings or In vitro. The cultivar has the same set of genes in every tree produced this way. Therefore in this case, a tree produced by seed gets genes from 2 varied parents and hence each tree grown by seed is unique with its own set of genes and therefore should not be vaguely named like its parent cultivar.
