General characteristics:
Type: Columnar apple (narrow, upright shape, without extensive branching).
Fruit: Green, Granny Smith-like apple.
Taste: Acidic, crisp, very refreshing - hence the name “Tangy”.
Flesh: Firm and juicy, excellent for eating fresh, salads or cooking.
Growth and size:
Height: Approximately 2 to 3 meters.
Width: 30 to 60 cm - perfect for small spaces.
Growth: Erect, with few or no side branches, making pruning minimal.
Flowering and pollination :
Pollination: Not self-fertile → requires another compatible apple tree nearby to produce fruit.
Hardiness:
Zone: Usually hardy in zones 4 or 5 up to 8.
Cold hardy, but best protected from dry winds or late frosts in borderline climates.
Growing requirements:
Exposure: Full sun (minimum 6 hours of direct sunlight).
Soil: Well-drained, rich in organic matter.
Maintenance: Low - a little pruning to remove shoots or dead wood.
