A small to medium-sized tree with a bare appearance in winter (hence its snag name) native to the hardwood forests of southern Ontario and the east-central United States. Its dioecious, whitish-yellow flowers are produced in June after the leaves emerge. In August, they are replaced by long purple-brown pods measuring 12 cm which remain clinging to the branches until February. The foliage of the snag emerges towards the end of May or the beginning of June and adorns the branches with elegance. Each compound, bipinnate leaf impresses with its delicate texture and size. Their color is initially bright reddish green before changing to dark blue-green in summer. In autumn, some specimens take on a beautiful bright yellow color. It has resistance to insects and is not known to suffer from diseases. This is a tree that requires a little patience before reaching its full potential as it does not grow quickly, but will transform into a truly extraordinary specimen. This tree has a lot to contribute to your landscaping and needs to be known. It is a species par excellence in cities because it is tolerant of urban conditions. It has been planted extensively in Montreal for several years.

IMPORTANT: We do not deliver trees 7' and taller! (Nursery pickup only). For best results, orders placed from now on will be delivered in the fall (except for nursery pickup).
