Shrub with small dark purple to black fruits which are full of anti-oxidants, used in traditional herbalism. To encourage the production of young shoots, remove branches 4 years or older close to the ground. They are recognized by their very dark bark. Ideally keep 12 branches per mature plant. Self-fertile, although planting two or more plants provides a much better yield. Ben Tiran is a variety recognized for its vigorous growth and more compact shape. Its fruits grouped in small clusters are of a good size (1.30 g), with a pleasantly sweet flavor and even ripening. Ideal for fresh consumption and canning.
