Large pine native to Europe with a large geographical extent. It has a more or less straight trunk with a dense, dark crown. This variety has needles 8 to 14 cm long, grouped in pairs, very rigid, prickly and straight or slightly curved. It is very resistant to cold and drought, as well as wind and air pollution. It has powerful roots that tolerates both limestone and compact clay soils. The black pine does not like shade and needs a lot of sun to develop well.
