The black oak is native to southern Ontario, the Eastern United States and the American midwest. It also grows well in southern Quebec and the Maritimes where a few non-native ones are listed. It has foliage similar to red oak but tougher and thicker, with more pronounced lobes and more teeth. Its new shoots are very decorative with pink tones with pubescence. We recommend it for parks and wide open spaces.

For more details, consult its technical sheet.
