It is a noble hardwood native to the east of the North American continent. The tree is a native species in southern Quebec where it is associated with other hardwoods. Its heartwood is prized for its many uses in cabinetmaking or other uses. On the market, even today, it can fetch a high price. It is recommended in close planting with monitoring to promote a good trunk without knots, in windbreak hedges, in enrichment of woodland and also for parks and large gardens while it will reveal its ornamental side.
