This small ornamental tree, ideal for small spaces, is native to North-East Asia where the climate is particularly cool. Its hardiness (zone 3b), but also the beauty and scent of its flowers, make it a tree that can be planted as an isolated subject in parks or on private flowerbeds. It can also be used as an alignment tree along roads near electrical wires because it does not reach a large size (rarely more than 6 to 9 meters). Flowering occurs in mid-summer. The fruits are elongated pods. The tree is somewhat similar to the Cladrastis lutea but is more rustic than the latter.
