Amorpha fruticosa, the Desert False Indigo, Indigo Bush or False Indigo Bush, is a species of dicotyledonous flowering plants in the family Fabaceae, subfamily Faboideae, native to North America as far north as southern Manitoba.
Shrub with pretty green dissected foliage very similar to that of the black locust. It produces long clusters of purple flowers in June. Can become invasive. Good plant for inhospitable places as it is resistant to drought and de-icing salts. It will also thrive in poor soil. Can help prevent erosion.
