The Harval apricot tree is a relatively recent and interesting variety of apricot tree, prized for its early production and good resistance. Here are its main characteristics:
🌳
General characteristics
• Origin: French variety, developed by INRA research.
• Tree growth: Medium to strong vigor, with good branching.
•    Pollination: Self-fertile, meaning it can bear fruit without the need for another variety nearby. However, cross-pollination can improve production.
🍑
Fruit
•    Ripening period: Early—usually late June to early July, depending on the region.
•    Size: Medium to large.
•    Skin: Deep orange with a slight red blush on the side exposed to the sun.
•    Flesh: Orange, firm, juicy, sweet, with a good balanced flavor.
•    Use: Versatile — excellent for fresh consumption, but also for jams, pies, or preserves.

🌿
Advantages and resistance
•    Late flowering, making it less susceptible to spring frosts, a major advantage in regions at risk.
•    Good, consistent productivity, with little variation.
•    Good resistance to disease, particularly monilia, although, as with all apricot trees, vigilance is required.

•    Ideal climate: It thrives in sunny locations.
•    Soil: Light, well-drained. Avoid overly moist or calcareous soils.
•    Pruning: Formative pruning in the early years, then maintenance pruning to promote light and fruiting.
