Grafted Pawpaw. Will produce quickly. Ideal for growing in pots at the bottom of zone 5b-6a
KSU Chappell TM is an impressive new cultivar developed by Kentucky State University. With exceptional flavor, beautiful texture and beautiful large fruits. Very rapid growth. An absolutely essential paw paw cultivar to have! Formerly called KSU 4-1. The flesh is thick and creamy with an exceptional, exotic fruity aroma, a honeyed sweetness and a fruity-vanilla flavor. It is probably a seedling of Susquehanna TM, to which it strongly resembles. Fruits average between 8 and 12 ounces, with fruits even larger, around 1 pound. The trees are very vigorous, strong and extremely fast growing with large, healthy foliage. This is perhaps the fastest growing cultivar of Asiminia.
For zones 4a-4b and even up to 5b it is recommended to grow it in a pot like all grafted paw paws or to plant it in a place highly protected from the winds. For adequate pollination, plant another variety of paw paw.
