Thiessen produces purple-blue fruits, good for fresh consumption or in pies, possibly the best tasting.

It has the appearance of a large, slender shrub with a height of 4 m (14 ft) and an oval shape that is maintained at a height of 2 meters by removing the large diameter stems.

It flowers early and produces very large fruits (up to 10 mm in diameter). Its flavor is not as sweet as that of Smokey Saskatoon berry.

**Yield 800 to 3,600 kg/ha.
