Shrub with a spreading and compact habit. Spiny stem. Glossy green foliage turning yellow in fall. Moderately abundant flowering, composed of pink-white, pink-red and red-white flowers on the same branches. Greenish yellow fruits, fragrant, late in September-October and edible. It resists drought. Use in rock gardens and Japanese gardens.
