As its name suggests, it comes to us from America, from southeastern Canada more precisely, the result of a hybridization between Quercus alba and Quercus bicolor .

The seeds for this oak come from Montérégie (South of Montreal) where natural hybrids exist. It produces acorns earlier than pure oaks of their species because it is a hybrid which is a good asset for feeding wildlife for hunting.

The Jack's Oak is considered an ornamental tree, the coloring of its leaves in autumn being particularly spectacular.

Deciduous leaves, with short acute lobes, quite similar to Quercus alba.
