Prolific kiwifruit

Prolific kiwifruit, also known as Actinidia arguta ‘Prolific’, is a hardy variety of kiwifruit (Siberian kiwifruit or mini-kiwifruit) that produces smooth, sweet, edible fruit without peeling. Unlike conventional kiwifruit (such as Hayward), it is adapted to cold climates, making it suitable for cultivation in Quebec and other regions in zone 4.

Fruit:

Size: Small fruit, 2 to 4 cm, like an oval grape.
Skin: Smooth, green, edible (not fluffy like traditional kiwifruit).
Taste: Very sweet and fragrant, often sweeter than traditional kiwifruit.
Maturity: Late summer to early autumn (late September to October, depending on climate).
Production: Good - hence the name Prolific;

Flowering and pollination:

Flowering: Early summer.
Self-fertile : Yes, it's one of the few hardy kiwis that is self-fertile, which means it doesn't need a male plant nearby to produce.
However, it produces even more abundantly with a compatible pollinator (such as a male A. arguta kiwi). 

Growth and care:

Type: vigorous climber.
Mature height: 3 to 5 meters (or more), depending on support.
Support: Should be trained on an arbor, trellis or solid fence.
Pruning: Necessary every year to control shape and encourage production (late winter or early spring);

Hardiness:

Zone: Up to zone 4 (withstands about -30°C).
