Small tree seems mature to the crabapple tree in terms of size. In spring, it sports fragrant, semi-double pink flowers, which are sometimes followed by small black fruits that resemble cherries. The young yellowish green leaves turn green in summer then orange-red in autumn. A perfect choice for small gardens. Use in isolation. Plant in a location protected from strong winter winds. Protect the first winters with a rolled up canvas. This is the famous cherry tree that we find in Washington in flower in March. In our latitudes, they flower towards the end of May or in June.
