🌳 Origin & General Information
Botanical name: Betula nigra

Native to North America, primarily the riparian and wetland areas of the Southeast and Midwest. A medium to large tree, prized for its decorative bark that exfoliates in thin reddish-brown strips and for its majestic natural presence in aquatic landscapes or ornamental gardens.

🌡 Hardiness, Climate, Exposure
Hardiness zones: 4

Exposure: full sun to partial shade.

Soil: prefers moist but well-drained soils, tolerates clay or sandy soils, resistant to some poor soils.

📅 Flowering & Cycle

Foliage: glossy green in summer, golden yellow in autumn.

Fruiting: small seeds in upright catkins, attracting birds and pollinators.

Advantages
