- The UF SunLime (variety patented under the name UFR-4 or PP34,493) is a hybrid finger lime (Finger Lime, Citrus australasica) developed by the University of Florida (UF/IFAS).
- Main fruit characteristics
- Appearance and color: Cylindrical fruit measuring on average 6.8 to 7.9 cm (2.7 to 3.1 inches) and weighing about 30.4 g. It changes from green to brown, then to a bright red/purple color at maturity.
- Pulp: Made up of crunchy vesicles (like "caviar") of moderate red color, with tangy notes and a very aromatic sharp lemon flavor.
- Seeds: Very few or no seeds (on average 0 to 7 seeds per fruit).
- Juice acidity: About 8%.
- Tree and cultivation
- Habit: Small thorny and branched shrub or bush, reaching about 2.1 m (7 feet) at 6 years and up to 3 to 3.6 m at maturity.
- Flowering: Main flowering in February-March, with sporadic production throughout the year. Grafted trees usually produce from the first year.
- Resistance: Known to be tolerant to HLB (huanglongbing or citrus greening disease), but sensitive to citrus scab (citrus scab).
- Cultivation in Quebec: Not hardy in open ground; it must be grown in a pot and brought indoors to protect from frost (in a greenhouse or very bright interior) during winter.
