Grow in pots

Grafted (dwarf)

The 4-season lemon tree, or 'Eureka', comes from a cultivation in California dating from 1858. Today it is perhaps the most commonly sold variety in specialized stores. This lemon tree is less vigorous and smaller than other varieties, which makes it easier to grow in pots. It is said to have 4 seasons, because its flowering, and therefore its fruiting, can be spread out, but also because the fruits keep for a particularly long time on the tree.

Their leaves are large, lanceolate, with sometimes winged, aromatic petioles. Its branches are relatively thorny, especially when it is young. The flowers can appear almost all year round, but with a peak of flowering in spring, which will produce fruits at the end of winter. The fragrant flowers are white to pink, with 5 waxy petals. It attracts pollinating insects. It produces a juicy lemon, very acidic and of good taste, containing few seeds. Sensitive to cold.

Height at maturity: 6-7 feet.

Harvest: Multiples.

Self-fertile

Instructions for growing in pots:

Leave the plant outside between May and October but bring it inside between October and the end of April, until the spring frosts are over. Place in a warm place on your land protected from the winds and place in full sun. Enlarge the pot every 2 years as needed depending on growth and add fertilizer of your choice as needed. Can easily withstand a semi-dormant winter period in a cool place between 8° and 14°C... Ex: semi-heated garage. Finally...Remember to acclimatize your plant to the sun in spring by not placing it directly in full sun for the first few days but going there gradually otherwise the leaves will burn in the sun in a few days.
