The yellow oak or chinkapin oak is a good-sized tree from the white oak group. It is difficult to find in nurseries and grows in southern Ontario in rare places including Point Pelee National Park. Although it grows in southern Ontario, it is hardy for southern Quebec and the Maritimes and few people know it. Its beautiful cut leaves have a shape similar to those of the American chestnut but shorter. The tree has a very good ornamental value in addition to its rarity. This is something new that we are bringing to you in Quebec. It's up to you to find out by consulting its technical sheet.
