ISAAC saskatoon berry

• The ‘Isaac’ cultivar is often identified as Amelanchier alnifolia ‘Isaac’ or Amelanchier × wiegandii ‘Isaac’.

• It is therefore a variety of saskatoon/serviceberry, selected for its fruit and ornamental qualities.

• Approximately 1.5 m to 1.8 m depending on location and conditions.

• Approximately 1 m to 1.5 m in many descriptions.

• Zone 2 / 2b: resistant to severe cold.

• Flowering: in spring, around May. White flowers.

• Harvest: often in July.

• Fruit: large for this family, sweet, tasty, generally highly rated for fresh consumption or processing (jams, pies, etc.). Dark purple/blue color.

• Exposure: full sun or partial shade.

• Soil: prefers well-drained, rich soil that can be moist but not waterlogged. Tolerates acidic soil.

• Tolerance: tolerates spring flooding, some difficult soils, fairly undemanding in terms of pH.

• Fairly high yield for a compact shrub.

• Large fruit with a pleasant taste.
