Rhododendron × ‘Nova Zembla’ – Hardy, bright red hybrid

🌿 Description

Rhododendron ‘Nova Zembla’ is an evergreen, hardy, and very floriferous variety, prized for its large, bright red flowers with slightly brown-speckled throats.
Its spectacular spring bloom (May-June) brightens up the garden and contrasts beautifully with its dark green, glossy, dense foliage.
Easy to grow, hardy, and suited to cold climates, it is an excellent choice for flower beds, flowering hedges, or isolated plantings.

⚠️ Growing tips

  • Plant in acidic (pH 4.5 to 6.0), humus-rich, well-drained soil.
  • Avoid calcareous or waterlogged soils.
  • Apply a mulch of bark or pine needles to maintain soil moisture and acidity.
  • Water regularly, especially after planting and during dry periods.
  • Remove wilted flowers after flowering to stimulate growth.
  • Protect from cold, dry winds, especially in winter.
