🌿 Description

The ‘Golden Lights’ azalea is a superb deciduous variety from the Northern Lights series, developed by the University of Minnesota to withstand harsh winters.
It offers spectacular spring blooms of large, golden yellow flowers with a light fragrance that brighten up the garden. Compact and hardy, it is perfect for flower beds, borders, or hedges in cold climates.

📏 Characteristics

  • Mature height: 1.2 to 1.8 m
  • Width: 1 to 1.5 m
  • Habit: rounded, dense
  • Flowering: late May to early June
  • Flower color: golden yellow to light orange
  • Foliage: medium green, turning bronze-purple in fall
  • Hardiness: zone 3 (down to -34°C)
  • Growth: medium to slow
  • Exposure: sun or partial shade
  • Soil: acidic, humus-rich, well-drained

⚠️ Growing tips

  • Mulch the soil to retain moisture and protect the roots.
  • Water regularly during dry periods, especially in the first few years.
  • Prune lightly after flowering to maintain a beautiful shape.
